Remember those tin lunchboxes everyone had as a kid? They were sturdy little lunch pails that held everything from your sandwich and juice box to your pudding or fruit cup. Sometimes they even had a Fruit-by-the-foot inside, and everything fit together perfectly--a little bit like a well-played game of Tetris.

The Tin Lunchbox (that's us!) does the same thing: We provide a variety of shared information from featured artists and literary endeavors to recipe sharing that all fits flawlessly into one place. Granted, we aren't working with physical  lunchboxes, but it is fun to imagine all the same.

Meet Our Team

The Tin Lunchbox is a collection of ideas that was started by Shawna Caro. As the founding editor, she strives to publish and produce content that is intriguing, thoughtful, and fun. Learn more about her and other staff members below!

Shawna Caro, Founder

Shawna Caro, Founder

Shawna Caro has lived her whole life in Kansas, but she's traveled to plenty of places including London, Canada, and Lake Michigan. She earned her BA and MA from Emporia State University in English. To be quite honest, she's a super-nerd for anything to do with language, writing, reading, old books, and really bad puns. Shawna is a champion for the Oxford Comma, and will defend it with honor. She currently resides in the Kansas City area with her husband, daughter, and two dogs.

Lindsey Bartlett is an Instructor of English at Emporia State University in the Flint Hills of Kansas. When she is not buried under a mountain of grading, she can be found reading, petting dogs, or on a quest to capture another colorful Kansas sunset. Her blog is The Mad Rhetorician

Kari Bowles earned two BAs from Montana State University (one in Film and Theater, the other in English) before going on to earn an English MA from Emporia State University. She is often found reading, watching movies, writing fiction or poetry, taking long ambling walks in the Montana countryside, or engaging in conversations with unique and wonderful people. She lives for delicious and nourishing things, be they stories or culinary preparations. Her blog devoted to stories and the various forms they take is Moon Riverrun

Frances Mihulec is an author and editor living in Emporia, Kansas. A graduate of Emporia State University's MBA program, Ms. Mihulec has an education in English Literature, Ethnic and Gender Studies, and Business Administration. She usually writes under the pseudonyms Liria Calder and Cecil Harper. Her blog is available here
